GearScape Best Setup
for the Gemstone Crab
Importing your Bank · Setting your Budget · Building the Optimal Loadout
🦀The BankMemory plugin records your bank contents and lets you export them as a JSON string that GearScape can read.
- Open RuneLite and click the wrench icon (⚙) to open the Plugin Hub.
- Search for "Bank Memory" in the search bar.
- Click Install on the Bank Memory plugin by Lazyfaith.
- Once installed, open your bank in-game so BankMemory can record its contents.
Once BankMemory has recorded your bank, export it as a JSON string to paste into GearScape.
- Find the BankMemory icon in the RuneLite sidebar and click it to open the panel.
- Click the "Export Bank JSON to Clipboard" button.
- Your bank data is now copied — you'll paste it into GearScape in Step 6.
Go to gearscape.net/calculators/best in a desktop browser. Make sure Best Setup is the active tab in the top nav, not "Dps Calculator."
- Left panel — Your character's stats and general options
- Centre panel — Monster selection and stat display
- Right panel — Items to Include or Exclude, plus your GP budget at the bottom
The left panel is where you enter your skill levels so GearScape can filter out gear you don't have the requirements for.
- Type your RSN (username) in the text field at the top and click the green lookup icon — this auto-fills all stats from the hiscores.
- If RSN lookup doesn't work, click each orange-underlined stat field and type your level manually.
- In the General tab below your stats, check any applicable options: Slayer helm, Void, Salve amulet, etc.
In the centre panel, use the "List of Monsters" dropdown to search for and select Gemstone Crab.
Once selected all defensive stats will read +0 — confirming the crab has no defence and any combat style is viable.
To import your bank:
- In the right panel, confirm you're on the Include tab with Gear selected.
- Click the small 🏦 bank icon to the right of the item search bar.
- A text box will appear — paste (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) your BankMemory JSON export and confirm.
- Enable the "'Own' included items" toggle so your banked gear is treated as free.
To set your budget:
- Scroll to the bottom of the right panel to find the GP budget field.
- Type your amount (e.g.
5) and select M for millions or K for thousands. - To see results using only what you already own, set budget to 0.
If GearScape recommends gear locked behind quests, achievement diaries, or skill requirements you haven't met, use the Exclude tab to remove those items.
Common items to exclude if locked:
- Ferocious gloves — require completing Barbarian Training
- Barrows gloves — require Recipe for Disaster
- Abyssal tentacle — requires 87 Slayer to obtain
- Berserker ring (i) / Archer ring (i) — require Nightmare Zone imbue
- Infernal cape / Fire cape — require Fight Caves
- Dragon defender — requires Warriors' Guild progression
- In the right panel, click the Exclude tab.
- Search for the item name and click + Exclude.
- GearScape will skip it entirely when calculating your best setup.
With everything set up — click a combat style button at the bottom of the centre panel to run the calculation.
- Find the row of combat style buttons (sword, dagger, axe for melee; bow and staff for ranged/magic).
- Click your preferred style — melee is most common for gem crab.
- GearScape instantly displays the best gear per slot below.
Reading the results:
- "In bank ✓" — already owned, no cost
- GP amount — needs to be purchased
- DPS number — expected damage per second against the crab
- Total cost — GP needed to complete the loadout
